Recent purchases – Sephora, Trader Joe’s, and Drugstore

I’ve picked up quite a few bits recently, mostly only items I needed (*pats self on back*). Here’s what I got, where I got it, and a few first impressions…

boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil | I picked this up because I’m almost out of the jojoba oil I use to take off my makeup. I like it so far, although the first time I used it, the scent was so strong it burned my eyes! Eep.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream | If you’ve been reading my blog from the very beginning, you know my favorite hand cream is Aquaphor. I don’t even really know if it can be classified as a hand cream, since it’s more of an extremely thick paste the consistency of tar. Even when I’ve found my holy grail product, the addict in me still wants to try something new, and so far, I really like this hand lotion.

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Oil Soap | I hope I’m not the only one out there who is obsessed with Trader Joe’s beauty products! I’m slowly making my way through everything, and I’ve only been impressed so far. I love their Tea Tree Tingle shampoo, and I’m sure this soap will be just as good.

Trader Joe’s Lavender Hand & Body Lotion | I’m becoming one of those women who has a bottle of hand lotion within reach of every sitting area in her house (nothin’ wrong with that!). This one is pretty moisturizing, and it smells so wonderful and fresh and spa-like.

EOS Shave Cream | I picked this up in the hopes that I finally, finally find a shaving cream that doesn’t irritate my skin. I haven’t used this yet, but with the wonderful reputation the EOS lip balms have, I have high hopes! If any of you have used this, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs “Nude Lust” | I was inspired by Claire Marshall’s latest favorites video to try a couple of the Maybelline The Buffs nude lipsticks. Overall I’m not super impressed with these. They have that very old-school makeup scent, and they settle into the lines of my lips immediately. I’m also not sure about this color on me. I just don’t know if I’m a nude-lip kind of gal.

Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs “Touchable Taupe” | I picked up this shade to see if it suited me any better than “Nude Lust”, and I gotta say…it doesn’t. This is probably the ugliest color lipstick I’ve ever used. I’m sure it looks great on certain skin tones, but on me it looks flat-out hideous. It’s a very dark brown/gray that completely washes me out and makes me look like a zombie. I’ll be returning this very soon.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick “Petunia” | The Ultra HD Lipsticks are new from Revlon. I’m not sure if they’re limited edition or not. I’ve only seen a couple mentions of these online and they weren’t overly positive. I will say the packaging is annoying (the lipstick doesn’t twist down completely into the tube), and there is noticeable glitter in it. Other than that, I found the gel formula to be pleasant on the lips, and the scent, which smells exactly like Ring Pops, is nice (to me at least!).

Have any of you used these products before? Let me know what you think!

I agree on the Maybelline lipsticks, I don’t feel as though they are very good quality at all! They are really dry and cakey in my experience!

I know! So disappointing…at least drugstores here let you return used makeup!

Is that EOS scentless? I have the lavender one and it took a few uses before my legs calmed down. My skin is incredibly sensitive. You’ll have to let me know how it works for you!

Yes, I made sure to get the fragrance-free one. I can’t stand most products with scents, they always irritate my skin!

I didn’t know there was a fragrance free option! It wasn’t in any of the stores I checked.

I got mine at Duane Reade if that helps! 🙂

I’ll have to see if there are any Duane Reades around. Thanks!

Duane Reade is affiliated with Walgreen’s, which I think is a lot more common throughout the country.
