October Favorites

Another month gone…I can’t believe it’s almost November! A week or so ago, I was already thinking about my favorites post, and I thought I would have a difficult time finding enough items to talk about since I was trying not to go quite so crazy in the spending department. But it turns out October was a good month – I found some new favorites and revisited a trusty standby.

First, but not least, The Magnificent Lorac Mega Pro Palette. I’m sure those of you who weren’t able to get your hands on it are sick of hearing about it (psst-you can still order it on Amazon – it will be in stock on November 4th), but how could I NOT include it in my favorites? This is the only palette I’ve used since I got it. There are about a million different combinations and looks you can do with it. The range of colors and finishes is impressive, and I think it’s a great palette for my brown/green eyes. You can do everything from an intense dark purple eye, to a muted matte eye. I think I’m going to have a hard time using any other eye shadows for at least a few more months.

Cerave Moisturizing Cream, more often called Cerave “in the tub”, has been my skin’s savior this month. Even though it hasn’t really been that cold in NYC yet (it’s 70 out today! What?!?!), the air has definitely gotten drier, and my skin has been a bit parched. Enter this giant tub of thick, rich moisturizer. This stuff makes an immediate impact. I first picked it up on the recommendation of a dermatologist, but swore it off after a week because I started breaking out all over my face. Happily (I guess?) the reaction was caused by a different product, and I can continue to use this! Now I understand why this is a holy grail moisturizer for so many people!

My third favorite may be a bit controversial! Maybelline Brow Drama hasn’t received the most glowing reviews, but I actually quite like it. I use it after I do my brows with my Anastasia Brow Wiz to set my brows and give a tiny bit of definition. I’ve never used a brow gel before, I never thought I needed to, but I like the effect of adding a bit of tint to my brows on top of the Brow Wiz. It’s subtle, but it gives them a bushier appearance. I will concede that the name “Brow Drama” is a bit…dramatic for what the product actually does. Heh heh.

The last two products I’ve been loving this month are both from L’Oreal. Their Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream has been a staple of mine since I first started wearing makeup seriously. My skin has been surprisingly good for most of this month, and I haven’t needed a lot of coverage, so I’ve been reaching for this almost every day. It gives a decent amount of coverage for a bb cream, and it’s just perfect for days when you need to do a 5-minute face and rush out the door. I’ve been pairing it with a newer purchase, the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer. This primer gives a subtle “light-infused” look. It’s great for this time of year because my skin has become dull with the changing weather. I like mixing it with the BB Cream; it gives a pretty glow.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month?

The Magic lumi primer is going to be on my favorites this month too, but I like to use it as a contour highlight! Looks very pretty.

I’ve tried it as a contour highlight as well and loved it πŸ™‚

I always eye up the L’Oreal BB cream and Lumi primer at the drugstore, but now I can safely take the leap ever since I bought the Master Glaze in Make a Mauve on your rec and loved it. Ugh and the Mega Pro! Need. But I have this weird thing where I can’t bring myself to buy palettes cos it’s “frivolous,” so this baby is going to the top of my Christmas list πŸ˜‰

I’m so glad you liked Make a Mauve! I hope you like the bb cream, it was the first bb cream I ever bought and I liked it so much I didn’t really venture onto others. πŸ™‚ I get what you mean about palettes. I didn’t really need it but I’ve been dying to try Lorac shadows and thought it would be fun to go for something limited edition since I’ve never really gone for them in the past.

I got the Lorac pro to go as a gift a few months back and I use it like crazy. The blushes and bronzer are just as great as the shadows πŸ™‚
