Empties #1

I’ve used up several things recently and decided I’d share my thoughts!

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser | This is my holy grail cleanser. It’s the only thing I’ve used for probably 18 months now. I first discovered it when I was researching products for acne prone skin. I wouldn’t say that this cleanser helps reduce acne, but it does a good job of cleansing without overly drying your skin. It’s very gentle and non-comedogenic, and helps keep your skin moisturized with hyaluronic acid.

Rite Aid Renewal Oil-Free Makeup Remover | This is a pretty good makeup remover, but it’s nothing special. I bought it because I didn’t want to spend double or triple the amount on the Neutrogena version. It’s completely non-irritating, and it does remove eye makeup pretty well. I can get the majority of my eye makeup off with this and a cotton round, but I usually have to go back in with a q tip. I wouldn’t rush out to buy this again, but now that I know that it works well, I think I’ll stick with generic makeup remover instead of going for Neutrogena or L’Oreal.

TRESemmé Tres Two Extra Hold Hair Spray | This is a sample size, but I’m including it because it takes me fooorreeeeevvveeerrrr to use up hair products. I like this hair spray. It definitely gives a good hold without feeling super crunchy like other hair sprays with similar claims (I’m looking at you Pantene). I mostly use this when I put my hair in a side braid to keep hair from falling out of the braid, and it does a good job. It doesn’t last all day, but it does feel and look natural, so I would repurchase this in the full size.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara | I bought this during The Great Clump Crusher Craze of 2013. For a while, it was my holy grail mascara, and I’ve repurchased it several times, but I think I’m going to take a break for a while. In case you’ve never used this mascara, it completely, 100% lives up to its “no clumps” claim. It does NOT however deliver on its “200% more volume” claim. So, if you’re a very low-maintenance, five-minute face kind of person, this mascara is great. I would also recommend it if your main problem is short lashes – Clump Crusher does a great job of lengthening. If you want a little more drama and a little more curl, I’d suggest trying out the next mascara I’m going to mention.

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara | This mascara gives you everything Clump Crusher doesn’t. It gives about a million times more volume, and it actually keeps my lashes curled. The wand is also loads better. With Clump Crusher, I always get it on my lids, without fail. Not so with The Rocket. The wand is a lot thicker and grips the lashes much better instead of just pushing them upward. I’ve already repurchased this to use as my new every day mascara.

Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially on the mascaras!

Great products! I love Tresemme dry shamposs but never come across their hair spray. Have you tried the L’oreal Elnett satin hairspray before and if so how do you like this compared to that one? Thanks!
