Shop My Stash #2

stash

Yesterday, I went to The Container Store to pick up some things to help me organize my makeup. Since I don’t have a dressing table yet, my collection is all over the place. So today, I’m watching old seasons of America’s Next Top Model and trying to make some sense of all the lipsticks scattered throughout the apartment, and I figured it would be the perfect day to shop my stash!

I picked out the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in “Crush” and the Maybelline eyeshadow quad in “Mocha Motion”. This Maybelline palette was one of the first things I bought when I was first becoming interested in makeup. I think I used it a few times until I discovered Wet n Wild eyeshadows. After giving it a second chance today, I can see why it’s been sitting in storage untouched for so long. It was so difficult to get any color out of these shadows. I used the “base” color all over my lid, followed by the pinky-mauve color. I tried blending in the dusty taupe color in the crease and outer corner, but after basically packing it on with an eye contour brush, I gave up. I then tried to use the “liner” color along my upper and lower lashes for some definition. Again, the pigmentation was just very unimpressive. I think I’ll be saying goodbye to this little palette, unfortunately.

The Balm Stain is not disappointing in the least! This color is a bit bright and autumnal, which is why I’ve only worn it a few times. It’s very pigmented, creamy, and gives a nice gloss to the lips. The only strange thing about it is that when I opened it up, there was a greenish metallic film covering it. I wiped it off, and it seems fine now. I guess it’s just from not being used in so long? It was a little off-putting, but I didn’t notice any weird scents, so I think it’s fine.

Here are the products in action.

You can probably see why I was so disappointed with the eyeshadows. After packing it on, it barely looks like I’m wearing anything!

Don’t you love shopping your stash? It’s so satisfying! My Revlon balm actually had that green tint to it when I purchased it, I thought it was part of the color and now I’m kind of freaked out…

I’ve been watching ANTM this week too! I love the first few seasons 🙂
