Skincare Favorites: Paula’s Choice

Sob story time. I’ve struggled with acne since I was 10. I’m now 25, so for pretty much as long as I can remember, I’ve hated my skin. At some point, I kind of gave up trying to make it better and thought it was something I was just going to have to live with forever. Shortly after this point, I discovered /r/skincareaddiction on Reddit. If you’re not familiar with Reddit or subreddits, /r/skincareaddiction is basically a skincare forum. For anyone struggling with acne or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or anything, I strongly encourage you to take a look at all the info posted there. I’ve learned so much, and I feel like I still have a lot to learn. Anyway, this is where Paula’s Choice comes in. It’s one of the brands suggested the most there, and a big part of the reason is because Paula’s Choice products are clinically proven to be non-irritating. From their website:

“Bring on skin that’s dry, oily or somewhere in between. Give us the wrinkles, rosacea, acne, blackheads, and big pores. Paula’s Choice Skincare treats them all. Without irritation. No added dyes. 100% fragrance free. Our products are based on our unique combination of research, reviews, and results-driven product development. Finally, products that really work.”

I’m happy to say from personal experience, that their products DO really work! I’ve repurchased some of the products in the photo above three or four times now. I will say, that I don’t believe any of them are “miracle” products because, well, miracles don’t exist, and I do still have issues with my skin. But, I can say my skin is doing a lot better than it was before I started learning about skincare and before I started using Paula’s Choice products. Now, on to some of my favorites!

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel | Probably my favorite PC product! This is made with 2% Salicylic Acid, one of the most common acne-fighting ingredients. Since using it, my skin has become more supple and plump. I used to breakout all over my cheeks, but now I really only get hormonal acne along my jawline.

Clinical Scar-Reducing Serum | This stuff is seriously amazing. I think I’m on my fourth bottle. It reduces the formation of scars. I just purchased a new bottle after not using it since May because my skin is just not the same. My PIH sticks around way longer without this. It’s becoming a must in my skincare routine. In fact, one of the only times I’ve EVER been complimented on my skin was on my wedding day by my grandma. I had been using this religiously day and night mixed with the Resist C15 Super Booster (not pictured).

Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask | This is a new product for me. My skin has been getting less combination and more dry lately. I’ve used this once as an overnight treatment, and it was super rich and hydrating. I’m looking forward to using it more as a rinse-off treatment.

I encourage you to visit the Paula’s Choice website to learn more. I don’t think it needs to be said, but I’m not affiliated with Paula’s Choice in any way; these opinions are all my own!

I think my next skincare adventure will be facial peels! Yikes!

Have any of you tried Paula’s Choice products? I love to hear your favorites! If not, what are your favorite skincare brands/products?

P.S. For anyone interested, I’ve posted an update on my Sally Hansen Miracle Gel review.
