Usually I research an item extensively before I decide to buy it, but every once in a while, I like to pick something out just because I like the look of it. The other day I moseyed into Walgreen’s and saw they had installed a Boots display. I’m not sure if Walgreen’s has carried Boots products for a while now and my local one is just way behind, but I’ve only ever seen their products at Duane Reade and Target. Neither Duane Reade nor Target are in my neighborhood, so I’m not very familiar with the brand.
I eventually decided on the No. 7 Stay Perfect Smoothing Eye Shadow in “Pewter Shine” and the Botanics Tinted Lip Balm in “Sheer Guava”. The eyeshadow is what I would elegantly describe as a taupe-y, metallic-y, shimmery gray. It’s very intense when swatched, but blends out to be quite subtle. It claims to be crease resistant, but I can never bring myself to wear any kind of shadow without a primer. I wore it yesterday over the Urban Decay Primer Potion, and it lasted all day without creasing. I might try it again over the Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Tough as Taupe”; I feel like they would work well together.
The tinted lip balm was slightly disappointing. I can’t complain about the balm aspect, but the color payoff is not great. To get the color in the swatch above, I had to make at least eight swipes. I know it’s just a tinted lip balm and it even has “sheer” in the name, but I just wanted a bit more. My lips are very pigmented to begin with, so this may as well be a clear balm.
